Our speaker, Paula S. Caplinger, Vice President, Counsel, and Tidewater Area Manager for Chicago Title Insurance Company, will explore various fraud schemes and steps you can take to prevent them. Using real-world examples, she will provide you with practical advice on how to fortify your practice and your clients’ property against fraudulent activities.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellation/transfer requests will be honored until 5:00 p.m. the day preceding the seminar. You will, however, be charged $40 if you cancel or transfer your registration to a different seminar after the link to the materials has been e-mailed by Virginia CLE®.
Full refunds or transfers are available up to two days after a webcast in the unlikely event that you experience technical difficulties.

MCLE Credit Caveat: The MCLE Board measures credits by the time you spend in attendance. If you enter a seminar late or leave it early, or both, you must reflect those adjustments accurately in the credits you report on your credit reporting form. A code will be given at the end of the seminar, which must be written on your MCLE form.

Paula S. Caplinger, Chicago Title Insurance Company / Newport News
Paula S. Caplinger is vice president, area manager, and counsel for the Newport News, Virginia, office of Chicago Title Insurance Company, a member of the Fidelity National Financial family of title companies. She assists Southern Virginia attorneys and title agents with legal and underwriting inquiries related to residential and commercial real estate. She is a frequent lecturer on title insurance and real estate related topics.
Ms. Caplinger received her B.S. degree in Business Management from West Virginia Institute of Technology and her J.D. degree from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law, College of William and Mary. She is an active member of the Virginia State Bar and was the chair of the Real Property Section of the Virginia State Bar from 2004-05. She also has served as the co-chair of the programs subcommittee of the VSB Real Property Section. She belongs to the Virginia Bar Association and has served as a member of the VBA Real Estate Section Council. She was the 2015 recipient of the Traver Scholar Award, presented annually by the Real Property Section of the VSB and Virginia CLE® to one premier real estate attorney who has made significant contributions to the cause of continuing education in Virginia. She is also a member of the American Bar Association, Newport News Bar Association, and the Greater Peninsula Women’s Bar Association.
