James P. Cox, III, longtime Virginia CLE® speaker, author, and contributor, will highlight key issues in estate administration, including frequent problems encountered in his more than 40 years in practice. He will address how estate administration issues vary widely depending on the circumstances of the decedent’s death; the nature, extent, and titling of the assets of the decedent; the terms of any testamentary instruments left by the decedent; and the family members, heirs, and beneficiaries of the decedent.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellation/transfer requests will be honored until 5:00 p.m. the day preceding the seminar. You will, however, be charged $40 if you cancel or transfer your registration to a different seminar after the link to the materials has been e-mailed by Virginia CLE®.
Full refunds or transfers are available up to two days after a webcast in the unlikely event that you experience technical difficulties.

MCLE Credit Caveat: The MCLE Board measures credits by the time you spend in attendance. If you enter a seminar late or leave it early, or both, you must reflect those adjustments accurately in the credits you report on your credit reporting form. A code will be given at the end of the seminar, which must be written on your MCLE form.

James P. Cox, III, is a member of MichieHamlett and has practiced with the firm since September 1983. His areas of practice include estate planning and administration, real estate, and litigation and court proceedings relating to estate matters.
Mr. Cox received a B.A. summa cum laude from Duke University in 1980 and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1983. He is a member of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and a Virginia Law Foundation Fellow. Mr. Cox is a committee member of Virginia CLE® and former board member of the Virginia Law Foundation. He is a member and past chairman of the Legislative Committee of the Wills, Trusts and Estates Section of the Virginia Bar Association.
Mr. Cox is the author of the annual supplements to the two-volume treatise Harrison on Wills and Administration in Virginia and West Virginia, published by LexisNexis, and the editor and contributing author to the Virginia CLE® publication Estate and Trust Administration in Virginia since it was first published in 1997, through its seventh edition published in 2023.
