The 2021 changes to the ALTA Title Insurance Policies are not so much a total revision as an update to bring policy forms in line with electronic transactions and include coverage or definitions for common matters that impact policyholders. The focus is on the Owner’s Policy and the Homeowner’s Policy (enhanced coverage) with a review of how title insurance really benefits an owner (what’s covered and what’s excluded), as well as a discussion of continuation of coverage as owners continue to convey their real estate to living trusts, entities, children, and others.
