Information

Why Attend?

  • Learn techniques for not just surviving, but flourishing, in the courtroom or in any high-pressure situation
  • Sharpen your communication skills using the instrument of persuasion
  • Understand the process of decision making
  • Learn how to use the three basic types of arguments

Getting your audience to hear you, to believe you, and to act on your words is essential to what you do every day. If you want to be consistently more persuasive, you need to do more than simply follow your instincts.

Whether you’re preparing for a jury, a judge, your partners, or simply a small group, you’ll benefit from the proven communication skills taught at this seminar, including the twelve principles of persuasion. These principles are compiled from Aristotle to Nobel Prize Laureate Daniel Khaneman’s “cognitive biases.” The twelve principles illustrate how the mind gathers and processes information, and then creates a decision.

Topics will include:

  • Find out how people (jurors, judges, witnesses, and lawyers) learn and recall information
  • Recognize which jurors will dominate deliberations
  • Choose the right approach to persuade the hostile juror, the judge, or lawyer
  • Learn techniques of advanced trial persuasion—the art and science of obtaining results
  • The Twelve Principles of Persuasion

Options for Attending the Seminar:

On Tuesday, September 19, this program will be presented live on site in Richmond/Innsbrook, where people may attend in person, as well as virtually via live-interactive webcast and telephone.

On Wednesday, September 20, this program will be presented live on site in Fairfax only, with no virtual attendance options.
