With updates on recent statutory and case law analysis of paper streets in Virginia, our speaker will discuss Virginia Code section 15.2-2000 et seq., explaining how these code sections work in practice. Case law pertaining to paper streets will be covered with examples of what courts have done to resolve disputes pertaining to paper streets.

Webcast: 10 minutes prior to seminar. If you register for a webcast the day of the seminar, your e-mail receipt will include a link to launch the seminar and download the materials.
Telephone: Online registration ends at 11:59 p.m. the day preceding the seminar

Live on Site: Online registration ends at 11:59 p.m. the day preceding the seminar
Walk-in registration is permitted on a space-available basis

Cancellation Policy: Cancellation/transfer requests will be honored until 5:00 p.m. the day preceding the seminar. You will, however, be charged $40 if you cancel or transfer your registration to a different seminar after the link to the materials has been e-mailed by Virginia CLE.

Full refunds or transfers are available up to two days after a webcast in the unlikely event that you experience technical difficulties.

MCLE Credit Caveat: The MCLE Board measures credits by the time you spend in attendance. If you enter a seminar late or leave it early, or both, you must reflect those adjustments accurately in the credits you report on your credit reporting form. A code will be given at the end of the seminar, which must be written on your MCLE form.

Christy L. Murphy, Bischoff Martingayle / Virginia Beach

Christy Murphy represents clients in all types of domestic cases and issues including tracing separate interests in marital property and hybrid property, valuation of businesses, equitable distribution of marital assets, spousal support, custody and visitation, child support, adoptions, premarital agreements and all post-divorce issues involving division of retirement, modification of custody, child support, and spousal support matters, and show cause proceedings for failures to perform under court orders and agreements.

Ms. Murphy represents clients in mortgage litigation related to issues arising under consumer foreclosure disputes, fraudulent mortgages, loan documentation and servicing issues, MERS and assignment issues, claims brought pursuant to the federal Truth in Lending Act (TILA), the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), suits involving consumer disputes, claims made under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), unfair and deceptive trade practices, debt collection violations, privacy issues, fiduciary-related claims, and the Virginia Consumer Protection Act.

Ms. Murphy represents clients in all types of real estate litigation including, but not limited to, forgery/fraud, easements, title issues, land-use issues, unlawful detainers and possession of real property, and partition.

Ms. Murphy represents clients for landlord tenant issues including lease disputes, tenant assertions, and other various issues under the Virginia Residential Landlord and Tenant Act. She represents clients in estate and trust litigation including estate disputes, trust disputes, and modification and termination of trusts.

Ms. Murphy represents clients in appeals in the Virginia Court of Appeals, the Virginia Supreme Court, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
