2020s Vision: Noteworthy Fourth Circuit Published Criminal Opinions from January 2020 to the Present (September 19, 2023)
In this substantive and entertaining two-hour program, retired U.S. Magistrate Judge Carl Horn reviews what he regards as the most noteworthy criminal opinions the Fourth Circuit has published since January of 2020. Following the outline of his book, the Fourth Circuit Criminal Handbook, Judge Horn’s review takes us through nine subject categories:
- Search and Seizure
- Confessions and Other Statements
- Miscellaneous Pretrial Issues
- Drug Offenses
- Firearms Offenses
- Miscellaneous Offenses
- Trial Issues
- Sentencing
- Appeal/Post-Conviction
Cross-references for each of the 31 topics covered in the manuscript to corresponding sections in the Fourth Circuit Criminal Handbook make this not only an interesting summary of recent case law, but also a helpful research tool for federal criminal practitioners facing these issues in their cases and for the judges charged with resolving them.
BONUS! In addition to the 2-hour seminar, in-person attendees at the seminar in Tysons will receive a free 4-credit Online+ Bundle to purchase the webcasts and on demand seminars of their choosing, for a total of 6 MCLE credits.
