Why Attend?
- Examine the phases of an automobile accident to better understand accident reconstruction evidence
- Gain a more intuitive eye when determining liability
- Discover how to authenticate accident reconstruction evidence and get it admitted
Designed for attorneys who litigate liability determinations using vehicular accident investigation in both criminal and civil cases, this course will help attorneys learn what happens in a vehicle, pedestrian, or motorcycle accident so they can develop a more intuitive eye when determining liability. Attorneys will learn the basic skills needed to better understand an accident so that they can make better decisions in litigation or mitigation of damages when settling an accident case.
Attorneys will also learn how to determine when further investigation is needed; what evidence is important to collect; how to legally obtain that evidence; and what steps can be taken through accident reconstruction to provide verifiable proof of how an accident occurred and the foundation needed to admit that evidence or testimony in court.
Some of the many topics covered include:
- Admissibility of accident reconstruction testimony
- Overview of accidents, including the phases of a crash
- The difference between skid marks and yaw marks and gouge marks
- Questions to ask your expert and the police officer
- Questions to ask the opposing expert
