Information

Why Attend?

  • Explore the impact of tax rules in family law matters, including child tax credits
  • Identify and learn to avoid common tax-related pitfalls
  • Understand filing tax returns with separated parties

As any family law attorney will tell you, tax issues affect nearly every aspect of the practice. From tax code changes regarding the treatment of spousal support to evaluating the cost basis for stocks subject to equitable distribution to dividing pre-tax retirement accounts, the impact of tax issues on the area of matrimonial law is tremendous.

Our speaker, an experienced family law practitioner, will discuss how the tax rules can impact several areas of a family law case from start to finish. In addition to addressing the above-mentioned topics, he will cover filing tax returns with separated parties, making sure that transfers made pursuant to a divorce are tax free, dealing with child tax credits, and common tax-related pitfalls to avoid.
