Family law cases have high conflict and high emotion, creating plenty of opportunity for persuasive cross-examination. Without proper planning and skillful handling of different witnesses, however, it can be easy for your points to get lost and to lose control of the testimony. In this introductory seminar, we will cover the fundamentals of cross-examination in family law cases and help you develop the skills you need to cross-examine with confidence.

Registration Deadlines:
Webcast:	10 minutes prior to seminar. If you register for a webcast the day of the seminar, your e-mail receipt will include a link to launch the seminar and download the materials.
Telephone:	Online registration ends at 11:59 p.m. the day preceding the seminar Call (800) 979-8253 to register up to one hour prior to the seminar
Live on Site:	Online registration ends at 11:59 p.m. the day preceding the seminar Walk-in registration is permitted on a space-available basis

Cancellation Policy: Cancellation/transfer requests will be honored until 5:00 p.m. the day preceding the seminar. You will, however, be charged $40 if you cancel or transfer your registration to a different seminar after the link to the materials has been e-mailed by Virginia CLE.

Full refunds or transfers are available up to two days after a webcast in the unlikely event that you experience technical difficulties.

Inclement Weather Policy and Updates.

MCLE Credit Caveat: The MCLE Board measures credits by the time you spend in attendance. If you enter a seminar late or leave it early, or both, you must reflect those adjustments accurately in the credits you report on your credit reporting form. A code will be given at the end of the seminar, which must be written on your MCLE form.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

David J. Damico, Damico Law Firm / Roanoke

David Damico has practiced in Roanoke for over 45 years. He handles criminal and family law matters and has served as a substitute judge in General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.

Mr. Damico practices in both state and federal courts, and has handled six death penalty cases, as well as a variety of murder, drug, child pornography, and other felony matters. He successfully represented clients in two Federal Racketeering (RICO) cases, where both clients were acquitted after six-week trials.

Mr. Damico attended the University of Virginia as an undergraduate and graduated from UVa School of Law in 1976. He has been the Chairman of Criminal Justice Act Advisory Committee for the Western District of Virginia, 2005-2014, and the Board of Governors, VSB Criminal Law Section, 2007-2011.

Nanda E. Davis, Davis Law Practice PLLC / Roanoke

Nanda Davis opened her firm, Davis Law Practice, in Roanoke, Virginia, in 2014. Her practice consists entirely of divorce, custody, and matters involving Child Protective Services. In 2020, she was selected by Virginia Lawyers Weekly as one of the Influential Women of Law. She is the past president of the Roanoke Chapter of the Virginia Women’s Attorney’s Association, and the past president of the Salem Roanoke County Bar Association.

Ms. Davis has spoken about family law and running your own law firm on numerous occasions, including events at Virginia Tech, Washington and Lee School of Law, and the University of Maryland School of Law. She has published many articles on the practice of law, including articles in Virginia Lawyers Weekly, the Virginia Family Law Quarterly, and Above the Law. Originally from Northern Virginia, Ms. Davis graduated from the University of Virginia in 2008, and from George Mason School of Law, magna cum laude, in 2012. Before moving to Roanoke, she worked as an attorney advisor at the Department of Labor, Office of Administrative Law Judges.
