Registration Deadlines:
Webcast:	10 minutes prior to seminar. If you register for a webcast the day of the seminar, your e-mail receipt will include a link to launch the seminar and download the materials.
Telephone:	Online registration ends at 11:59 p.m. the day preceding the seminar Call (800) 979-8253 to register up to one hour prior to the seminar
Live on Site:	Online registration ends at 11:59 p.m. the day preceding the seminar Walk-in registration is permitted on a space-available basis

Cancellation Policy: Cancellation/transfer requests will be honored until 5:00 p.m. the day preceding the seminar. You will, however, be charged $90 if you cancel or transfer your registration to a different seminar after the link to the materials has been e-mailed by Virginia CLE.

Full refunds or transfers are available up to two days after a webcast in the unlikely event that you experience technical difficulties.

Inclement Weather Policy and Updates.

MCLE Credit Caveat: The MCLE Board measures credits by the time you spend in attendance. If you enter a seminar late or leave it early, or both, you must reflect those adjustments accurately in the credits you report on your credit reporting form. A code will be given at the end of the seminar, which must be written on your MCLE form.

9:00	Case Law Update on Virginia Family Law Craig W. Sampson A thorough review of significant family law decisions from the U.S. Supreme Court, the Virginia Supreme Court, and the Virginia Court of Appeals.

10:30	Legislative Update: 2023 General Assembly Session Daniel L. Gray An annual, comprehensive summary of the status of recent legislative changes affecting family law in Virginia.
11:15	New Appellate Practice Rules and Procedure Lawrence D. Diehl Effective January 1, 2022, the jurisdiction of the Court of Appeals was greatly expanded to include most civil cases as a matter of right. This session will review in depth the new or amended Supreme Court Rules and statutes applicable to appeals in family law matters, including a review of the current controversial issue of possible appeals of pendente lite orders. This CLE is a must for practitioners handling family law appeals as well as those handling trial matters that might lead to an appeal.

1:30	The Intersection of Family Law and Elder Law Elizabeth L. Gray, Virginia C. Haizlip Practical advice for family law practitioners dealing with elder law issues in their cases, including issues of capacity, guardianships, child support, and custody.

2:30	“Burdensome” Issues in Equitable Distribution and Judges Panel Hon. Daniel E. Ortiz, Hon. J. William Watson, Jr., Cassandra Chin, Brian M. Hirsch (moderator) An in-depth lecture on burdens of proof in equitable distribution cases, followed by a panel discussion with judges and lawyers on the practical aspects of trying such cases.
4:00	The Ethical Duty of Self-Care and Resources for Troubled Colleagues Barry J. Waldman, Barbara Mardigian A discussion of the ethical implications of ensuring that we, as lawyers, pay attention to our own wellbeing. This session will review the applicable ethical standards that encourage self-care, explore examples of the impact of failing to pay attention to our own wellbeing, and provide some guidance on resources to maintain wellbeing and for those seeking assistance.
