Top litigators know—motions can make or break a case!
A motion—making a compelling request of the court for a particular ruling in your favor—can be as important to winning a case as a brilliant cross-examination or a compelling closing argument. Every successful litigator must know and understand the vast array of types of motions available at any given time during the course of a case and be ready to utilize them at the correct time before, during, and after trial.
Motions to dismiss. Motions to strike evidence. And what the heck is a Motion in Limine?
This seminar will shine a welcome light on most of the motions that typically arise in a civil case in Virginia. Leading litigator Nathan Schnetzler will provide countless tips regarding the purpose, prerequisites, content, and timing of motions; and counsel you as to how and when each is used. He will also discuss how to counter motions made by your opponent. Among the motions to be discussed:
- Motions in limine
- Motions for summary judgment
- Motions for attorney fees
- Motions concerning experts
- Discovery and spoliation motions
