ABOUT THE SPEAKER


Kyle H. Wingfield,
Williams Mullen / Richmond

Kyle Wingfield focuses his practice on resolving tax disputes for businesses and their owners. Kyle has significant experience in managing audits and handling administrative and judicial appeals with the Internal Revenue Service, Virginia Department of Taxation and other state and local taxing authorities. His experience includes advising multi-state businesses on complex state and local tax issues in mergers and acquisitions. He is knowledgeable on state income, franchise, sale, use and property tax issues in numerous jurisdictions, and he has worked closely with departments of revenues in many states. Kyle is a member of the ABA State and Local Tax (SALT) Executive Committee and an editor for the ABA SALT newsletter (ConNexus). Kyle co-authored BNA Tax Management Portfolio 1360-2nd, Sales and Use Taxes: Retail Sales Issues. He is a frequent speaker on SALT topics at ABA conferences, and he has been selected to the Virginia Super Lawyers Rising Stars (2017-2018). Prior to joining Williams Mullen in 2012, Kyle worked as a senior associate at KPMG, LLP, where he assisted in preparing tax returns and completing tax provisions for large corporate clients. After law school, Kyle worked at a boutique tax law firm in Richmond, Va., where he handled federal and state tax controversy matters. Kyle earned his LL.M. in Taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center and is a graduate of the University of Richmond School of Law. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia.
