Family law issues and financial challenges often go hand in hand. Financial difficulties for a client may result in the client seeking your advice for a divorce, or conversely, a client’s pending divorce may lead the client toward consideration of bankruptcy options. Therefore, it is important to understand the intersection of family law and bankruptcy law—and how best to take care of your client.

The speakers guide you carefully through this tricky intersection, and provide their advice as bankruptcy and family law practitioners. Learn how the timing of a bankruptcy can impact a divorce, and vice-versa; understand how assets will be treated during a bankruptcy, and the impact on potential child and spousal support awards; and recognize the impact of a client’s bankruptcy on your attorney fees, and what you can do to try to protect yourself.

Stay up to date on expansive proposed changes to the Bankruptcy Code, and the new Chapter 10 bankruptcy.
