  • Understand the basics and planning issues with Medicaid long-term care
  • Review the basics of Medicaid Waiver—CCC Plus and DD Waiver programs

The federal Medicare program and the federal/state Medicaid program are often confused with each other. This seminar will discuss the differences between the two programs and then outline the basics of Medicare, including eligibility and coverage. The presenter will concentrate on Virginia Medicaid long-term care basics (with some planning tools), Medicaid Waiver coverage, and Medicaid expansion.

Attendees will obtain a basic but comprehensive understanding of Medicare and Medicaid. Primarily for the nonspecialist, this seminar will help attendees understand the aim and design of these government-based health care programs in the U.S., and how these programs fit together and how they don’t. Attendees will also learn when to seek help or make useful referrals.
