A pre-recorded streaming AUDIO replay of one session from the September 2020 seminar, The Conner-Zaritsky 41st Annual Advanced Estate Planning and Administration program.
Cosponsored with the Wills, Trusts and Estates Section of The Virginia Bar Association
This presentation discusses issues relating to the execution of common estate planning documents and possible execution alternatives brought to the fore by COVID-19. We review the history of electronic wills prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, culminating in the Uniform Electronic Wills Act approved by the Uniform Law Commission last year. We conclude the presentation discussing potential legislative solutions that might authorize (or confirm the validity of) remote execution of estate planning documents in Virginia, including electronic wills.
