ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Hon. Rebecca B. Connelly, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Western District of Virginia / Harrisonburg

Rebecca B. Connelly is a United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Western District of Virginia, appointed July 2012 to replace the Honorable Ross W. Krumm, who retired from service as a Bankruptcy Judge on August 1, 2012. She is a former Standing Chapter 13 Trustee and Chapter 12 Trustee for the Western District of Virginia. She has been a frequent speaker and author for Virginia continuing legal education programs and publications.

David Cox, Esq.,Cox Law Group, PLLC / Lynchburg

David Cox practices bankruptcy law throughout the Western District of Virginia. Prior to entering private practice, David served as a judicial law clerk for the late Hon. William E. Anderson. He is the coeditor of Bankruptcy Practice in Virginia and has lectured at numerous CLE programs related to bankruptcy. David is a permanent member of the Fourth Circuit Judicial Conference and a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy.

Peter G. Zemanian, Esq., Zemanian Law Group / Norfolk

Pete Zemanian founded the Zemanian Law Group in 2005. His practice focuses primarily on commercial foreclosures, bankruptcy and the negotiation and drafting of commercial agreements. Pete is certified as a business bankruptcy specialist by the American Board of Certification (per Rule 7.4(d) of the Rules of Professional Conduct, there is no procedure in Virginia for approving certifying organizations).

Pete earned his law degree in 1985 from The Washington & Lee School of Law in Lexington, Virginia. He earned his undergraduate degree in 1982 from Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. Pete has served as chair of the board of governors for the Virginia State Bar bankruptcy section and as president of the Tidewater Bankruptcy Bar Association. He is a member of the Virginia Bar Association, the Norfolk and Portsmouth Bar Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Tidewater Bankruptcy Bar Association.
