Why Attend?

Our first online concert featuring Garth Brooks co-writer Kent Blazy was such an impressive success that Virginia CLE® and the Nashville Songwriters Association International formalized our arrangement to offer a series of similar events to bring some joy, some incredible music, some wonderful stories behind the songs, and some normalcy to our challenging days and weeks. We are thoroughly delighted to launch this “concert plus CLE” series and even more pleased to welcome Sensei Enterprises, Inc. as our signature sponsor.

The 1-hour online CLE Program is Zoom Training for Lawyers and Using It Securely taught by national experts Sharon Nelson and John Simek Friday, June 26, 2020 at 6 pm ET. Our second online concert in this series will follow, featuring Nashville songwriter Bobby Tomberlin at 7 pm ET. Bobby is best known for writing Diamond Rio’s #1 hit "One More Day."

Sponsored by Sensei Enterprises, Inc.

About the Evening

Former Virginia State Bar President Sharon Nelson and current Virginia Law Foundation board member John Simek, co-founders of concert series sponsor Sensei Enterprises, Inc., will present a one-hour pre-recorded (not live-interactive) CLE program on June 26 at 6 pm ET you definitely won’t want to miss:  Zoom Training for Lawyers and Using It Securely. This will immediately be followed at 7 pm ET by our second online concert, this time featuring Nashville singer, songwriter, and storyteller Bobby Tomberlin. Cost for the CLE program and the online concert is $85. Cost for the online concert only is $20. And as always, the entire share of VACLE revenue will support Virginia Law Foundation grants made to underfunded law-related not-for-profit organizations throughout the Commonwealth.

The CLE PROGRAM

Zoom Training for Lawyers and Using It Securely

This essential seminar is designed to alert you to the many ways you can use Zoom in the practice of law – with an eye to making sure your usage of Zoom is secure and ethically compliant!

As lawyers move to working remotely, we’ve flocked in droves to Zoom for video conferencing. The growth in Zoom usage has exploded recently. As of the end of December 2019, there were approximately 10 million free and paid daily meeting participants. In contrast, that number has increased to over 300 million free and paid daily meeting participants in April of 2020.

Zoom is rich in features and has become a staple for all of our practices in recent weeks – and our clients seem to love it too. But beware – in order to use Zoom ethically and competently, you need to learn how to use it securely, and this brief seminar will help you with that.

Taught by two national experts in the field of law-related information technology and security, this thoroughly practical one-hour online program will teach you how to not only use Zoom and many of its most helpful features with ease – it will also help you learn how to use it securely, as your practice requires.

Topics will include:

  • Basics
  • Equipment
  • Participation in a meeting
  • Meeting management
  • Features
  • Cost
  • Configuring settings
  • Scheduling
  • Account security
  • Privacy
  • Encryption
  • Ethical issues

The Online Concert

This month’s concert features the remarkable Bobby Tomberlin, a true Nashville songwriting legend with an amazing voice and equally amazing stories to share.

Bobby is a CMA, ACM & Grammy nominee who was raised in Luverne, AL, where he was a disc jockey at the age of 11, interviewing icons like Johnny Cash, Waylon and Tammy Wynette. He was discovered by Hall of Fame member Mel Tillis at a young age and is perhaps best known for co-writing “One More Day,” recorded by Diamond Rio and nominated for Song of the Year in 2003. You can listen to "One More Day" here.

He and Darryl Worley also wrote Darryl’s Top 10 hit, “A Good Day To Run.” Bobby has also had songs recorded by Blake Shelton, Faith Hill, Barbra Streisand, Willie Nelson, Josh Turner, Kenny Rogers, Joe Diffie, Pam Tillis, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Oak Ridge Boys, John Schneider, and many others. He has played with the likes of Loretta Lynn and Vince Gill, and his songs have been featured in numerous films, as well.

Finally, Bobby was one of the stars of the CMT hit series, The Singing Bee, for five seasons and has also been featured in several films including Wheeler, co-starring with Stephen Dorff and Kris Kristofferson. With this much star power, we expect you’ll find that spending an hour listening to his songs and stories will be one of the most enjoyable hours you’ve spent in a long time.
