An exploration of difficult topics (and a review of the pertinent Virginia Rules of Professional Responsibility) that occur throughout an attorney’s career for which there never seems to be a satisfactory answer.  Topics include: When, if ever, may a lawyer withhold information from a client? (including RPC 1.4)  Are “lawyer to lawyer” conversations okay? (including RPC 1.6)  Is it ever appropriate to put the best interests of a child above the best interests of a client?  How far do you push a client to accept a settlement proposal?  Is civility worth pursuing anymore? (including RPC 3.3 and 3.4)
