Why Attend?

  • Get updates on all aspects of the law related to traffic offenses
  • Understand how the legislative changes can affect your practice
  • Learn about DMV programs and their collateral consequences
  • Explore relevant substantive and procedural differences around the state
  • Hear from a panel of judges
  • Examine the ethical concerns specific to traffic cases

If your traffic practice includes more than DUI, this seminar is for you. And if you seek to begin a traffic practice, this seminar is a great place to start.

This seminar is the companion to Virginia CLE®’s biennial DUI Defense in Virginia program. It provides the basic theory and strategies on effective representation of clients charged with reckless driving, speeding, eluding, hit-and-run, and driving on suspended or no license, as well as representing habitual offenders and juveniles. You will learn about changes in the law of license suspensions including the July 1, 2019, Virginia law change prohibiting license suspension solely for failure to pay court costs. You will hear from a panel of judges who will share their views from the bench and how to be a more effective advocate for your client. This program provides the opportunity to hear from experienced defense attorneys and the Assistant Commonwealth Attorneys. The program will end with ethical considerations specific to traffic cases.
