Why Attend?

  • Pull your nose out of your notes, look your listeners in the eye, and be the articulate attorney you’ve always wanted to be
  • Bolster your confidence, comfort, and fluency the next time you address a group of listeners
  • Learn the techniques, and then practice integrating them into your own personal style

This highly interactive program is not a lecture; it’s a workout. You will stand up with the group and channel your body’s nervous energy into dynamic delivery. Grasp what to do with your hands and gestures in order to grab and hold your listeners’ attention. Discover how to eliminate annoying filler words like um and like. Explore the best way to make notes to structure your presentation. Understand how to “structure your improvisation,” rather than read a script (so boring) or recite from memory (so risky). Rather than just sit and listen, you will engage each of these skills repeatedly, on your feet and out loud. You’ll walk out knowing how to efficiently practice to become even better.

Using cutting edge research in linguistics, gestures studies, and sports psychology, this course will give participants a practical, immediately useful technique for public speaking in all settings. The program will give you the performance skills you need to get the job done with confidence—whether you are sitting or standing, addressing a small group or a large audience. To do that, you need a solid technique and the chance to practice. This program does both: Learn the techniques, and then practice integrating them into your own personal style.

Seminar Materials:  All attendees will receive a copy of The Articulate Attorney: Public Speaking for Lawyers (2nd Edition), by Brian K. Johnson and Marsha Hunter (a $24.99 value), as the seminar materials.
