Special needs considerations in estate planning are more important every year, as the younger population with disabilities increases, and the benefits available decrease. It is also necessary to understand the basic rules of first-party trusts to be able to serve those clients under age 65 who need to shelter assets to be able to receive Medicaid and/or SSI benefits. Being able to spot issues for your clients is half the battle!
