Hon. Rebecca Connelly,
U.S. Bankruptcy Court / Harrisonburg

Rebecca B. Connelly is a United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Western District of Virginia, appointed July 2012 to replace the Honorable Ross W. Krumm, who retired from service as a Bankruptcy Judge on August 1, 2012.  She is a former Standing Chapter 13 Trustee and Chapter 12 Trustee for the Western District of Virginia. She has been a frequent speaker and author for Virginia continuing legal education programs and publications.

Hon. Kevin R. Huennekens, U.S. Bankruptcy Court / Richmond

The Honorable Kevin R. Huennekens was appointed as a United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of Virginia on September 11, 2006.  He received his J.D. in 1978 from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and the Law Review, and his B.A. from the College of William & Mary in 1975.  Prior to his appointment, Judge Huennekens was a partner with the firm of Kutak Rock LLP.  Judge Huennekens served as a Panel Trustee for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia (1988-2006).  He was an Adjunct Professor of Law at the College of William & Mary, Marshall-Wythe School of Law (1993-96).  He successfully argued the case of Patterson v. Shumate, 405 U.S. 253, 112 S. Ct. 2242 (1992) before the U.S. Supreme Court.  Judge Huennekens is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy, a member of the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges, the American Bankruptcy Institute, was recognized in Who’s Who Legal USA: Insolvency & Restructuring and The International Who’s Who of Insolvency and Restructuring in 2006, and was listed in the Best Lawyers in America from 1995 to 2006.  He is a planning committee member of the Annual Mid-Atlantic Institute on Bankruptcy and Reorganization Practice.  He is the Co-Editor of the Virginia CLE Publication, Bankruptcy Practice in Virginia (2012). 

Daniel M. Press,
Esquire, of Chung & Press, P.C. / Alexandria

Daniel M. Press is a bankruptcy lawyer with the law firm of Chung & Press, P.C., in McLean, Virginia, and Greenbelt Maryland.  A 1988 magna cum laude graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, he was an editor of the Georgetown Law Journal.  He received his B.A. from The Johns Hopkins University.  After graduating from law school, Mr. Press served as a judicial law clerk for Judge Jaime Pieras Jr. in the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.

Mr. Press and his law partner Brett Weiss are the authors of Chapter 11 for Individual Debtors, published by Collier/Lexis-Nexis, and present “Bootcamp” training on Chapter 11 for individuals.

Mr. Press practices in the Bankruptcy and Federal District Courts in the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia Maryland, and the District of Columbia, as well as other U.S. Appellate, District and Bankruptcy Courts around the country.   He is a member of the Boards of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, the National Consumer Bankruptcy Rights Center, and the Northern Virginia Bankruptcy Bar Association, and was previously the NACBA State Chair for the District of Columbia.  He a member of the Section Council of the Consumer Bankruptcy Section of the Maryland State Bar Association and previously served as the Education Director of the Consumer Bankruptcy Committee of the American Bankruptcy Institute.  He is a regular speaker on bankruptcy and related topics at Continuing Legal Education seminars and programs locally and nationwide.
