This course should only be taken for completing the requirements relating to military spouse provisional admission in Virginia. It does not carry Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) credit.

This course is intended to satisfy the requirements of Virginia Supreme Court Rule 1A:8, Military Spouse Provisional Admission. Rule 1A:8 was issued on May 16, 2014. The new Rule becomes effective on July 1, 2014. It permits the provisional admission to practice of law in Virginia for military spouses licensed outside of Virginia. Among the various requirements contained in the Rule is the requirement that the applicant has
[C]ompleted twelve (12) hours of instruction approved by the Virginia Continuing Legal Education Board on Virginia substantive and/or procedural law, including four (4) hours of ethics, within the six-month period immediately preceding or following the filing of the applicant's application. Rule 1A:8(2)(k).
The Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) Board of the Virginia State Bar has approved this course of instruction presented by Virginia CLE®.
Please note this important information:
- Only a course specifically approved by the MCLE Board for Rule 1A:8 Military Spouse Provisional Admission qualifies for the required 12 hours of instruction under Rule 1A:8.
- Our other seminars do not qualify for Rule 1A:8 Military Spouse Provisional Admission, and any CLE courses taken before your Virginia admission to the bar cannot be applied towards CLE requirements in Virginia, i.e. you have to be a Virginia lawyer to take CLE for credit in Virginia.
