LEO: Conflict of Interest - Attorney's  LE Op. 793

Conflict of Interest - Attorney's Fiancee

Employed by Opposing Counsel.

May 27, 1986

It is not improper for an attorney to represent a client when the adverse

party is represented by the law firm which employs the attorney's fiancee

as a legal secretary. Should said attorney feel his relationship with his

fiancee might affect his independent professional judgment on behalf of

his client, he must make disclosure to his client and obtain client's

consent to continue representation. [ DR:5-101(A)]
