Disabling Your Google Pop-Up Blocker

Virginia CLE live Webcasts require pop-up blockers to be turned off.

The Google Toolbar has an annoying pop-up blocker that can be difficult to find – instructions for turning it off are below.

  1. First, make sure Internet Explorer has the Google Toolbar installed and is displaying the Google Toolbar. Click on the View menu item, then on Toolbars, and confirm that the Google Toolbar is listed.
    • PLEASE NOTE: If the Google Toolbar is NOT listed, then it is not installed, and thus is not causing any problem you may be having viewing our live Webcasts.
  2. If the Google Toolbar is in the list of Toolbars, mark the check to the left of it (if it is not already checked).

  3. Next, locate the wrench icon on the Google Toolbar.
  4. Then click on the small black down arrow to display the Options menu.
  5. Then, click once on the word Options to open the Options dialog box.

  6. Next, click on the Tools tab to show the Tools options.

  7. Finally, make sure the check-box next to Pop-up Blocker is UNCHECKED. This turns off the pop-up blocker.
  8. Then, click the Save button at the bottom of the box to save your changes.

  9. You may need to close Internet Explorer (by clicking on the File menu item and selecting Exit) and then open it again to ensure that the pop-up blocker has been turned off.
