Virginia CLE Mourns Passing of Peter Kenny

Peter Kenny

Peter Kenny, a Virginia CLE® Seminar Director for more than three decades, passed away on April 6, 2014. Mr. Kenny directed Virginia CLE®’s National Trial Advocacy College for most of those years and was a recipient of the College’s annual Brennan Award for Trial Advocacy.

Mr. Kenny was known throughout the Commonwealth for his commitment to Continuing Legal Education, as well as for his devotion to the Boston Red Sox. His legacy lives on in such annual programs as Recent Developments in the Law, the Criminal Law Seminar cosponsored by the VSB Criminal Law section, the DUI/Serious Traffic Cases programs, the Rocket Docket, and many others. While he developed MCLE seminars in many areas over the years, toward the end of his career he focused on litigation seminars.

Memories and thoughts from Virginia CLE® staff:

He was known as the gentleman that brought all the Virginia CLE® books to his programs.

Before 2004, the Red Sox hadn’t won a World Series since 1918 – before Mr. Kenny was born. When the Red Sox ended their 86-year drought in 2004, Mr. Kenny was thrilled, but never gloated (not even in the company of an ardent Yankees fan). In 2007 and 2013 he gracefully enjoyed the Red Sox winning two more Series titles. He now passes on with the Red Sox as defending World Series champions.

Mr. Kenny combined a wonderful attitude of kindness and respect with an inspiring abundance of dedication and energy. He will be missed.
