LEO: Appearance of Impropriety — Court, LE Op. 422

Appearance of Impropriety — Court Appointment — Attorney Representing Judge.

    August 14, 1981

An attorney who represents a Circuit Court judge should not accept criminal court-appointed cases from the judge or any other judge in the same circuit during the pendency of the attorney's representation of the judge. To do so raises the specter of indirect compensation and the appearance of impropriety. [See II: DR:7-109(A).]
