The Tides By Auto: From Washington and Baltimore and points North: Take either US 301 or I-95 South, exit 126 ("Massaponax") to US 17 South to Tappahannock. Continue from Tappahannock on 17 South for 29 miles until you turn left on Virginia Route 33 East to Saluda. (Landmark: Food Lion on the right. If you get to a stoplight at Glenns, you've gone 2 miles too far.) In Saluda you'll come to a stop light, you'll go 7 miles before you leave 33. Turn left on Virginia Route 3 West. (Landmark: brick Harmony Grove Baptist Church on your right. If the road narrows to 2 lanes, you've gone too far.) Route 3 will lead you across the beautiful Rappahannock River bridge into White Stone, where you will turn left at the stop light on Route 200 North for the final two miles into Irvington. Welcome back. From Richmond and points West: From Norfolk and points South: From Saluda, Virginia: By Air: Private aircraft are welcome at Hummel Field, ten minutes away on the south side of the Rappahannock. Call us once you have arrived and we will happily drive you to The Tides. A nominal fee is charged. The paved, lighted strip is 2,500 feet long with good approaches. |
